Gas Works

Backfire of Johnson & Stanley

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.17 PM

I have a gas fired warm air heater produced by Johnson & Stanley, model Hi-Spec J90. When the burner ignites, it sometimes back fires (there is a loud "bang" sound), but then runs normally. What causes this back fire and how can I prevent it? Many thanks.

You require a full service on your warm air heater. Suffice to say that the ignition sequence is not working as it should. I don't want to get too technical, as to start confusing you, but most gas appliances are of the soft light variety. It sounds like the problem is to do with the actual ignition and cross lighting variety. I feel you require this serviced as soon as possible and the problem will be fixed. The one stipulation is the engineer employed on this appliance, should actually have a warm air heaters ACS module. As this type of heating is slightly different to the norm. Hope this advice is of help. Combigas.
