No water from hot water taps in bathroom, but all fine in kitchen

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

Hello, it's a gravity water tank system. Cold water works fine everywhere and the pressure is quite good. Hot water in the kitchen on the ground floor works absolutely fine, however, in the bathroom upstairs, there is no water coming out of the hot water tap and it only trickles from the shower hot water tap. The cold water is not affected. I suspect it's an airlock but am unsure how to fix it as both basin and shower are mixer taps and the cold water in the bathroom is coming from the tank and not the main cold water supply. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Many thanks

this could be an airlock issue as you have pointed out or it could be a blockage caused by insulation that has fallen into the tank and made its way to a point and get stuck causing a partial blockage. i would turn your shower onto the hottest setting and lay the hose in the bath is should start to splutter and you should hear air sowing out of shower head and flow should gradually increase. With your taps been mixers you could also put the palm over the tap outlet turn on the hot water and gradually turn on the cold water which should then force water up the hot pipe causing any air locks to moved and forced out of the pipe work. Hope this Helps. Matthew @ MLS Plumbing Solutions
