Painting a new front door?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.00 PM
Hi! I have just brought a new build house and would really like to change the colour of the front door. There is no damage to the door or the awful tangerine orange paint they used. Can I put an undercoat straight onto this and then a gloss paint? Or do I need to strip all the orange paint off? I have no idea so any help will be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,
Because is a new door and the original colour is in good condition you don't need to strip the paint off, for the best results i would suggest you to rub it down starting with 120grid sandpaper and than with 180grid, clean any dust left behind and apply 2 coats of Zinsser Cover Stain Primer and 1 coat of Sikkens Rubbol AZ Plus Gloss.

It also depends what the door is made of for the results you get.
