Removing paint marks from engineered floor

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.17 PM

Hi, We had painting done recently and unfortunately we managed to drop some paint droplets on our newly installed engineered wood floor. image here (https://app.box.com/s/mm2u41xr9u37y48r0kli3e0q10669jfb). We asked around on how to remove the paint and someone advised to use alcohol and rub it lightly to remove it. This has however removed the paint but has removed the oil from the wood and now there are visible white patches. The floor is from Kahrs (http://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/realwoodflooring/engineeredwoodflooring/10267/kahrs_artisan_oak_rye_engineered_wood_flooring). I'm looking for some advice on how we could get rid on the patches without sanding the floor. Some suggested oiling the floor but can someone please advise what oil to get or is that the right way to go ahead. Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Kam, Personally if it is a hard wood floor I would sand these marks away by using a 80grit sandpaper by hand then when the paint stain has disappeared use a higher grade paper like a 120grit. Yes this would remove the finish on the flooring but any spirit you use will do the same and wouldn't remove the paint as it will sink into the grain which makes it difficult to remove, this is why I suggested sanding the stain away. Then I would lightly sand the hole floor (depending on the size?) to remove the old seal and re seal using an Osmo oil, I recommend Osmo as I've used this brand on every hardwood floor I've laid and never had ant come backs from it. Hope this helps .
