Cracked Ceiling repair and repair of foot through roof

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

Hi,I am looking for some advice regarding my cracked ceilings. I have had a quote from a plasterer. He has given me two options for my ceilings, 1) overboard, which will lower the ceiling a little ( I want to avoid this because its a bungalow and the ceilings are low enough already) 2) have a carpenter put noggins in the loft and then try to staple the ceiling to it where the crack is and skim over it (the joists do not run with the crack). But i also want to know if its possible to take the ceiling down and replace it with new boarding and then skim. The property has been stripped back- carpets removed so it doesnt matter about the mess. Not looking for a quote but an indication of whether the third option will be significantly more expensive than overboarding would be helpful. Also our electricians mate accidentally put his foot through the kitchen ceiling so now there is a gap approximately 1 ft x 1 ft (ha...suppose that makes sense) that needs repairing. Its in the corner of the kitchen. Any advice as to the best way to do this would be welcome. Thank you very much for your time.
