Last bit of paint removal

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

I have been removing the old paint from the stairs railing and end uprights. The railings are back to the wood but the end uprights are proving a problem. After several applications of paint remover, I am still left with patchy bits. You can see the wood, but it's almost like a stain on it. Have tried to use sandpaper on it, but it does not seem to make any difference. HELP!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

you will always have trouble getting the last bits off. The only way I would do it is to sand down to take off a fine layer of wood using a detailed sander, with a course grit sandpaper on it. Try That Good luck

Sanding down the last bits is the only option, however you will have use proper sanding tools, like mouse sander cause doing it by hand could be very time taking. You have several grit options from 40 which is very bold and hard to 180 for smoothing surface to fine finish Kind Regards
