ceiling wallpaper

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.00 PM

Is ceiling wall paper a fire hazard? I was hoping to do this to a lot of my rooms i.e. living room and bedrooms only. I would be also wanting to paint it in white gloss but my neighbour told me it is now a fire hazard to wallpaper ceilings. And aertex isn't an option as landlord says I can only put up tiles or wallpaper. I'm fed up with the plain ceilings. Please help.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Normal anaglypta is class Fire rating „C-s2,d0“ according to EN 13501-1 corresponds to „B1“ (fire-retardant) and should be no more dangerous than the contents of a room. It says in the instructions that it's for walls and ceilings. But it must be prepared and well stuck down or adhered to the substrate, any paper partly hanging off would obviously be a hazard. Certainly never consider polystyrene warmaline or polystyrene tiles they would be a fire hazard. You might also want to consider fire retardant paint 'non intumescent' as well if you were worried about using blown vinyl, remind your landlord about smoke alarms as well if they're not fitted, hope this helps.
