If you go on U Tube and type in, Plastering Corner Stones, you will find a brilliant clip, showing exactly how to set it out, and do it.
Theres also other clips there.
The tool the guy is using, you can get from Ebay.

Setting out to form plaster corner stone bands
firstly sellect the correct timber batterns 4x1 [pencilround or splayed skirting.
Then sellect 2x1 batterns then you can begin to set out your corner to form
a solid edge. To do this first fix your 2x1 battern to the wall, keeping it back
from the corner edge about 12mm checking its level both ways once this is
achieved then, fix the 4x1 timber on top of the 2x1 allowing it to petrude
to the desigherd thickness required, then prime your backing coat and apply
a5x1x1 render mix with lime, allow to cure, then float upto asmooth finish
ready for marking and cutting out allow 16; width x 10; depth roughly or to
one's preference . Then when dry remove the battern's carefully then you have
your solid corner to apply render againt's to do the otherside
hope this helps!
