Under stairs paneling
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.17 PM
Hi, My staircase comes down into the living room, splitting it and the dining room. At the moment, it is possible to walk under the staircase between the two rooms. I'd like to put some kind of paneling on one side of the staircase to separate the rooms...but not quite sure how to go about doing this so that is secure and doesn't wobble anytime someone uses the stairs. Any advice on how to do this would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, I would say the simplest and most cost effective way would be to construct a timber stud wall with 3x2 timbers and then clad both sides with the desired paneling.
Plaster boarding and plastering would also be a good solution and will look like its always been there.
If the Staircase is already in place then it will be strong enough and not move or damage the new studwork below.
Hope that helps.
