Should we use lining paper to paint

hi, we have stripped our living/dining room and we're hoping to just paint the walls. However we have discovered a hatch that has been filled in by wood. Also there are quite a lot of holes we have had to fill after they had display cabinets attached to the walls. Someone has suggested using lining paper first & then paint but we have also had someone say that it will be a nightmare in the future to strip. Can someone please please help.

Hello a good quality lining paper helps, 1200 grade poss.
after reading what you have wrote i would fill all the holes up with filler then sand for a neat finish.
all depends on how you want the finish really you could fill all the holes up sand and use prep paint then go over with your colour.
or you could line the walls in my opinion a better finish.

We'd recommend using wallrock as 1) It comes in various widths up to 1m (saving a great amount of time) and 2) it's a paste the wall product and therefore easier to install.

lining paper is ok and will look ok but you will be able to tell its been lined. i would recommend skimming the walls with easi fill or a ready mixed version that is easy sand. hope this helps, jim

ames tape the gaps fill the small holes and paint or if using lining paper hang horizontally and its really easy to strip with a steamer
