Metal Garden & Driveway Gates + Railings

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.32 PM

Hi, I'm having some garden walls built but haven't purchased any gates/railings yet (money issues). However, I'd like to leave openings for STANDARD size front and driveway gates. I've done some research and it seems 3foot wide opening for front gate and about 10foot (I'd like about 10foot or nearest size) for driveway gates should be okay? Anybody any suggestions please as I don't want to get bespoke manufactured due to cost. Also, any standard sizes for metal railings would be helpful too. Thanks, Ash

Hi yes 3ft or 900mm is fine for a side gate ud get your wheely bins and a barrow through there also 10 ft is fine for a set of gates. one thing to remember is the size of your posts which are holding your gates up.

stander size opening for gates are (single/padestrian) gate should idealy be 1mtr and (double drive way gates ) should be at least 2.4 mtr (8ft) which is the same width as most standered garage entrances and as they are being hung from your brick peirs i would recomend m10 ram bolts to hold your hinges or hing plates on with
