wallpaper false chimney breast (heat affect on covering)

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.17 PM

Hi We have installed a hole in the wall glass fronted gas fire. It has had a false chimney breast constructed around the flue. We want to wallpaer the chimney breast. The chminey creast is made of fire board and has been plastered. The chminey breast does get warm. I want to know whether it is a good idea to wallpaper it and what is the best method taking into account the heat affect on the adhesive. Thanks in advance

with reference to it being a good idea to paper a chimney breast which is subject to heat depends on the type of paper you intend to use. If you intend to use a vinyl paper the heat will possibly shrink or expand the protective paper coating, this would also apply to blown vinyl papers. using a heat resistant wallpaper would be advised as the best solution for this type of task Yes you can. The wall may get warm but it won't get hot. If it's an enclosed fire then there will be no soot or smoke in the room so the wallpaper won't get affected or soiled.
