Old Carpets and carpet underlays in Loft?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.34 PM
Hi, How about the idea of laying old carpets and underlays in the loft for a little more insulation? We are installing laminate flooring in our rooms, and were wondering it would be a good idea to try and lay carpet pieces in the loft for added insulation rather than throwing them away. Any thoughts? P.S Our loft isnt converted and has joists all over.

I would have to agree I think it wouldn't do much help either but A+ for creativity. You could use the carpets for door matts or boots of a car to keep clean then dispose of.
You are probably better off by installing some insulation yourself! Probably take you same amount of time.
Hope this helps!

Get rid of the old carpets they do little by the way of insulation and will be too heavy for the loft.
