Do I need and RSJ for 6 meter x 5.5m single storey rear extension?

Hi We are planning a single storey rear extension. Would I need and RSJ in the middle of the extension and if so what size would it need to be also what size timber would you recommend? Thank you

Your best option for this is to contact a structural engineer, they can then calculate all of the loads imposed on the roof structure and tell you what size steel and pad stones would be needed to support the roof

Hi. You don't state where you live in the uk. I'm in Glasgow and I prepare plans for district council approval. In your case I would be contacting a structural engineer for his thoughts on structural aspect
