I have underfloor heating and integrated wet room shower tray - can I replace floor easily?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

Our bathroom has underfloor heating and an integrated wet room shower tray and screen but I would like to replace the flooring and walls with new tiles. Is it possible to just replace the tiling with new ones or would you end up needing to take everything out and start again?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It can depend upon the type of underfloor heating that has been fitted, whether it is electrical or water/oil filled pipes, (the screed over the top of waterfilled pipes would normally be deeper). More often than not, once you start to take up the tiles, they will separate from the adhesive fairly easily, if attacked from the right angle, you will then be left with the question of whether to take up the adhesive as well, or just tile straight over. The floor can be replaced, but no one can guarantee that it will keep all the heating elements. Sometimes it is possible but in most cases, we use new floor heating. It all depends on how strongly and solidly the tiles are attached with heating. Tilerservice
