Wiring my 13A 3pin plug in to my wall isolator
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.59 PM
Guys my oven is gas but has a standard 13A for lights, egnition and Led screen although I know I can just plug it in to the wall and of I go but, I am wanting to wire this in to the wall mounted socket you get behind your oven with isolator switch, would the higher amp work if I take my plug off and wire it in to this? for the reason I dnt have a 3pin socket near oven so would need extension,
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Be sure to read the instructions attached to the gas oven (what type of fuse one have to use and whether it is required isolator switch in an easily accessible and visible location)
I do not recommend the use of any electrical extension cable behind the oven.

Guess the outlet behind the cooker is 30A with terminals. If there is space behind the cooker you could fix a socket next to the outlet terminals and connect it directly to the them. Use the plug with the correct size(rated) fuse for protection. As it's in kitchen (special location) it is notifiable work under part P.
