Crack in breeze block wall after boarding garage loft

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.16 PM

Hi I have just moved into a new build property and have boarded out the roofspace of the attached garage. It is a double garage, with the joists running from front to back along the shortest direction of the garage and are joined with plates 2/3rds of the way over. When sorting out and clearing the junk, I've just noticed a crack in the left wall. It runs almost the entire height of the breeze block wall, slightly right of centre. What concerns me most is that it doesn't just follow the mortar joints, but runs directly through the centre of bricks. In terms of width it is probably only 1 - 1.5mm wide. Do I need to remove everything from the loft, or can I move stuff to the edges away from the centre? Thanks for any advice.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

the crack in the thermal block wall is quite common with some thermal block manufacturers.due to shrinkage.this is why some builders would use a 7 newton thermal block inside a garage, where it is not plastered.I would suggest getting a bricky to cut out broken blocks and replace.
