Pattern Wallpaper

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.16 PM

I know someone who said they are a decorator. I asked them to give me a quote on wallpapering two of my walls. The looked at the wallpaper and confirmed they could do it. I asked if they had a pasting table and they confirmed they wont need one. This has put me on edge, has the paper states the paste needs to be applied to the wallpaper directly and not the wall. Do you think this is an issue? Thank you.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Janine, I think you've answered your own question really. A decorator without a pasting table..um..! May be prudent to ask other 'competent' decorators. Many Thanks, Jason.

You need a paste table, to wallpaper a room. Even if it's just to match the rolls or cut paper lengths. The floor is not a good idea!

You don't need a dining table to eat your dinner but your dinner party might get messy! It's the same with hanging wallpaper. Any expert finish requires methodical working and attention to detail, which without a pasting table to work on will make the job unnecessarily challenging. Why would any professional do that??? You cannot just paste the wall if it is not a 'paste the wall' paper simply to bypass using a pasting table. The reason being: 'paste the wall' papers do NOT expand when the wet paste gets onto the wallpaper...but papers that you apply the paste directly onto generally require 5 to 10 mins to allow the paper to expand. If you don't allow the paper to expand before being applied to the wall, the paper will simply expand after you have hung it...and you'll have lots of wrinkles and bubbles! When paying a professional to do the job, it's probably not the look you're after.

Hi. Label says paste the paper, then you need a paste table...end of. The only way a decorator might cut papers on the floor, are if it's wide broadcloths, muraspec, or glitter-fabrics etc.
