Wet spots on wall worse after rendering
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.34 PM
Hi, Last year we bought a three floor (basement, ground and first floor) old property from 1886 (if I remember correctly). The survey showed that we had penetrating damp and advised we rendered the outside of the house which we did. The contractor who worked on it filled in the cracks, rendered the parts which needed it and painted the house with 2 layers of weather shield Dulux paint. Now 4 months after the work was finished the wet spots which were already there keep on expending every time it rains and now we even discovered new ones which were not there before the work started. Some of the spots are right in the middle the wall on the ground floor. There are no pipes around them which would suggest this could be due to a leak and the wall does not seem to have cracks from the outside (not that we can see anyway). To top it all, the general humidity level in the house is worse than before. We are really confused so we would appreciate ideas as to why this is happening and advice on how to solve this. Thanks!
