Emptied some radiators...want to turn the heating back on

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

Sorry for what might be a stupid question. I have recently been renovating my house, painting, decorating etc. I have emptied a few radiators to take them off the walls. They're now back on the walls but can I just turn the combi boiler on or do I somehow need to fill the radiators/ system back up? Cheers, Tom

Hello, I would first check the system presure on a gauge fitted on or near the boiler,(should be around 1.5bar) if its not fill via the filling loop it's usualy a flexi, metal braided hose fitted with two isolator valves. Open first valve then open second and keep an eye on the gauge when you've got the presure up turn off both valves and check for leeks if all is well turn on your boiler.

Hi. You will have to fill radiators back with water and re-pressurise your system. I advise you to get professionals if you don't know how to do it. You can damage your boiler by doing it wrong.
