Should EPS Felt trays be installed over or under roof felt when replacing facia's?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.59 PM

We paid a local double glazing company in June/July this year to install windows, fascia's and guttering. They employ their own staff for double glazing but have a contractor to do the fascia's and guttering. He told me that he was putting in EPS felt trays because the felt was rotten. Recently our roof developed a leak (nothing to do with previous work) We employed a roofing company from Checkatrade with good local references and the correct certification etc. They showed us photos to prove that the EPS felt trays have been fitted on top of the felt and will need to be taken out and put back in under the felt but that they cannot touch them as it would invalidate my ten year guarantee with the original company. The problem is that because the first contractor did such a poor job if we get him to come back its likely he could damage tiles and might not necessarily do the corrective work correctly and could end up invalidating my ten year guarantee with the current roofer so I don't know what I should do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Go back to the Double Glazing firm because you are in contract with them. Tell them of the issues and request they send a competent person to correct all items, under guarantee, explaining your concerns as to the original fitter. Many Thanks, Jason.
