Gas fires with independent flame affect without heat!
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.34 PM
I've had a quote to have a gas fire fitted I have gas central heating but would like a focal point in my lounge but I'm disappointed that the fitter says there are no gas fires out there that will give me a flame affect alone without having the heat on as well! As there are times when I would like to just have the glow of a fire without putting the heat on. I'd like a second apinion on this. Thanks.

A gas flame is produced by using 3 elements ,which are fuel (gas) air and heat, without all 3 present a flame cannot be established, natural gas burns at a mean temperature of around 1600degC, therefore heat is a very unavoidable product of a gas flame.
If you want a decorative only effect then there are electic fires on the market that can achieve that look.
