Oak wooden floor on ground floor

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.59 PM

Need an advice , what is the best option for oak wooden floor on ground floor . An idea is to do subfloor first ( fix 18ml plywood direct to concrete ) and after lay boards on it , the question is shall i glue boards to ply or nail them ?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, Whatever you decide make sure the floor is completely level and sound. Concrete is suitable as it is if it is reasonable flat. I would do a floor survey with a laser to find the high and low points. Grind down the high points and/or latex the floor to a smooth even finish. I would then float the floor over a high quality underlay rather than fix it down, let teh floor move, natural wood can be a pig if you don't prep right

What ever you do it's going to cost. If you go for hardwood id recommend nailing as it can expand and move around so obviously at least a 25mm exterior plywood would be required. plenty of flooring nails required.
