Broken Tilt and Turn Mechanism - Large Metal Windows
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.16 PM
The tilt and turn mechanism has broken on two of my large metal frame windows (one only tilts and the other only turns). According the managing agents at my block, the windows are so old it’s not possible to get replacement parts any more. I’m surprised at this as I would have thought the parts are fairly standard (my windows date back to the early 90s) and the mechanism is fairly easy to access. Is it worth pursuing the fix rather than replace option as I assume this will be a lot cheaper?

Hi
I woul advise you pursue the repair option. Until you have had a professional to give his advise, you shouldn't spend on replacements.

you could try locating mechanism logo/manufacturer to see if parts still exist
tilt and turn normally MACO/ROTO or sigenia
if they are obsolete then frame replacement would be next option
