Plumbing

Position of a heated towel rail

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.16 PM

I have just had my en-suite refitted and am really happy with the results apart from one thing. The room is very small and the old radiator was fixed centrally along the only blank wall space between the shower cubicle and the door. We wanted to replace this with a heated towel rail and the plumber has fitted this across the right hand side of the same wall behind the door. The valves of the towel rail stick out the front of the rail meaning that the door won't open fully. I contacted the plumber who said he had to put it there because the pipes were butted up against a joist. When I pointed out that the old radiator was centrally placed he said this was because it had side fed valves. He says that the only way to move the towel rail is the take the plasterboard off, move the joist and reboard the wall - all at a significant cost. Is this correct or am I being spun a line?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

HI IF it is the handles of the valves that protrude past the face of the towel rail .You can purchase valves that the pipework enters the valve from the back wall and the handles are under the towel rail .A very neat idea lastly their are plumbers/Heating engineers and plumbers?.Dave plumber gas engineer
