Cost of footings to add 2nd storey to existing single storey extension

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.16 PM

We have an existing single storey extension to the front of our house which we would like to build over to add extra room upstairs. We are guessing that the footings won't be adequate enough to do this ( this was added before we owned the house so not sure) . Any ideas how easy/ difficult this would be and idea of cost please? It's approx 18 ft x 8ft.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi john jm brickwork first you need to dig a inspection hole to determain depth of footing also big enough to fit in speak to a engineer or local building control and explain diamensions of footing depth/ ground or book an insprction for their views if footing not up to standard they may say either underpin your old footing or use steels if footing is good to go of hope this helps
