How much will it cost for doors fitted to under stairs space?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.33 PM
We have an open recess under the stairs in our front room. All services boiler and electrics are located in this recess. At the moment it's very ugly and noisy when the boiler comes on, so we'd like the recess covered. I'm wondering how much the following options would cost: A. Doors fitted to the space? OR B. One tall door fitted and the rest blocked up? Space measures roughly: 196cm x 152cm (but it's a triangle shape) Thank you.

I would recommend option B.
This would leave a tidier solution to the problem and also gives possiblity of adding more sound proofing if the noise is particularly loud, however standard 12.5mm should be fine though.
For a door (standard moulded) to be fitted to the opening, stud partition wall construction, plasterboard and skimmed, skirting and architrave fitting - a blind rough quote would be in the region of £670 and take 3 days.
