paint flaking off new plastered walls

Hi More often than not this happens this happens when newly plastered/skimmed walls or ceilings aren't given enough time to completely cure before painting. Plaster takes longer to completely dry than you might think. Solution: Old plaster; give it a light sanding and apply a thinned coat of matt paint – thinned with water to make it sloppy. Allow to dry thoroughly and then paint as usual. New plaster – the plaster should be given plenty of time to dry. When dry, first coat of paint on the new plaster should be matt& preferably white. It should be thinned with water so that it is sloppy. Paint all the plaster with this mixture. This is your undercoat and It will sink into the surface of the plaster. It Won’t take that long to dry because it will soak into the new plaster. Paint on another coat and leave overnight to dry. Now, you have prepared the plaster for painting and will avoid bubbling and peeling in the future.

I would suggest sanding then coating with watered down PVA glue in order to achieve a seal over surface. Also would recommend this in the first instance on newly finished plaster to prevent flaking/peeling or cracking.
