Kitchen Fitting

Double under counter oven with hob above

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

Hi. I really hope somebody can help me as I keep going around in circles! We have ordered a new kitchen (units) and decided to get the oven and hob seperately as they didn't have an oven that I liked. I told the kitchen designer that I wanted a double under the counter oven and an induction hob - he did not say that this was not possible. Yesterday I started looking at appliances and came across some things saying that you can't have an induction hob over a double oven! So now I have a couple of questions- Is it just an issue of space (as a double oven takes up the whole space and comes right up to the underside of the work top) ? Or is it something to do with the actual induction hob and the magnetism? I was thinking ok I'll just have to get a ceramic hob instead but I've looked up the depth of induction hobs and ceramic hobs and they seem to be about the same - so if it is to do with the issue of space that doesn't help! I'm just going round in circles! I've read loads of different websites and found some places were people say you need to have a 50mm gap between the top of the oven and the underside of the hob - is that correct and how is that possible with a double oven? By the way the work top we have ordered is 38 mm thick. I'm getting really confused and would really appreciate somebody spelling it out in terms that a stupid person could understand! And any suggestions would be gratefully received (i.e maybe just have a single oven but don't they still touch the underside of the work top?) Many thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi carrie Yes you can fit a induction hobb over an oven and what appears to be most important is ventilation.Yes you are correct a 50mm gap is require from the bottom of the hobb to the top of the oven with a 4mm gap between the oven and hobb at he front and its also prudent to have ventilation at the back of the oven of 80mm by 50mm.So i would assume that your double oven and hobb would meet these requirements Dave
