Can I use a timber frame for first floor extension?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

I like the idea of using a timber frame (with timber cladding) to add a first floor to a single story property. I'm thinking it may be cheaper, quicker and better insulated (as well as being made from a renewable material). Subject to planning (and suitable foundations) is this a good idea?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

yes you can add timber frame first floor extension, i actually constructed one in abergavenny s.wales,as long as existing foundations are suitable to take load,it does make the construction time quicker and is of better insulation than brick/block

Timber frame is an exellent way of producing a first floor extension .It may not nessesscarily be the cheapest option , but by far the quickest way to build . It is also by far a better insulated consrtruction, and the u values are reached easily by timberframe construction. I personally would recommend it Tony Vandervolk PMS Building and Maintenance Contractors
