Windows & Door fitting

Installing noise-insulating windows

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.59 PM

I have two old 1970s single-glazed windows 200cm high x 75cm wide that are 10m away from a railway line. I would like to replace with something that provides both heat and (v.important) sound insulation. What should I expect to pay and what are the options out there?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

6.8mm acoustic glass 20mm air gap 4mm toughened. There's other factors to consider when reducing noise, like wall & roof construction. Look on saint gobian for acoustic glass. Lee

If the sound insulation is important bear in mind if trickle vents are required to be fitted then the sound insulation properties will be severely reduced by the trickle vents.
