How to hang a heavy mirror onto a chimney breast wall
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.33 PM
I have a heavy frameless mirror which weighs 26.1kg and measures 120x90cm. It has a flat back with hanging brackets already attached to the back of it. What I would like to know is which screws etc do I use to support its weight on the wall? I want to fit it above my fireplace on the chimney breast which is made of brick and finished with plaster. Also advice on drilling depth and drill bit size to use would be very helpful too ?

I would use concrete screws (spax or similar) that you drive straight into the wall, and leave them slight proud and hand the mirror on two of those. The drill bit size will be specific to the screw size, any good builders merchant should be able to sort you out with what u need. Drill 75mm into wall, so use a 80mm screw. You will need an impact driver to drive the screws in as too much torque for your arms!! Good luck
