Any ideas for marking car park lines on MOT stone surface??

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.16 PM

Hi I'm opening a small car park of 50 spaces for a local college. We've decided to just test the water to start, so rather than investing in tarmac for now, we've used MOT as the surface. If it works, then we'll spend more on the surface. However, I'm struggling to mark out the spaces with something reasonably permanent. We are trying to make it as low-maintenance as possible and my idea would be to use a wet mortar mix with a colour pigment in it, but when I've chatted with the guy at Jewsons, he said it would come off as soon as anyone drove on it or it rained. I've seen chlorinated rubber paint, which seems expensive, so I'm reluctant to try it unless someone could tell me it that would work. There must be some way to do this without it costing an absolute fortune? It's not that we're cheapskates, just that we've already spent a fortune on the groundworks and other stuff, as we get closer to finishing the job, we were hoping that all the big expenses were out of the way. Can anyone help, please?? Thanks :)

For semi permanent markings hire a line marker from HSS for under £15 for the first day or under £30 for a weeks hire.

Could you mark the width of parking bays on the kerbing? which ever you use it may need to be luminous given the limited light with the onset of winter, and not forgetting ice / snow falls.
