Windows & Door Fitting

Join between double glazed window and brickwork is leaking brick dust inside house.

Anonymous user 6 September 2015 - 6.14 PM

We have moved into a late 19th C property in the east of England with dg windows. Don't know how old they are but the kitchen window leaks fine brick dust each time we open and close window and there is a fine crack in the paintwork / interior wall and the PVC window frame. What can be done to repair or sort this? Not sure if just filling crack with sealant will do the trick or whether worth getting builder in to look at whole wall external and internal for more sound advice... Any ideas? THANK YOU

Hi, I think it will be fine if you use silicon to seal the frame to the brickwork. Silicon is flexible and will not crack. Or you can use silicon and then cover it with a colour matching UPVc trim. I hope that helps.
