Can I tie into the existing wall or does it have to be a expansion joint ?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.59 PM

I am adding a brick wall which is 6 foot high 3m long to a existing, garden wall Can I tie into the existing wall or does it have to be a expansion joint ? (ie separate wall ?). also the existing wall is single brick thick with 9" pillars which i am surprised at. i thought at that height it would be 9"thick wall. but i have to keep it looking the same. Thank you

YOU WILL NEED TO USE EXSPANSION WALL TIES AND SILCONE TO JOINT AND PILLER AT OTHER END.

IDEALLY YOU SHOULD USE AN EXPANSION WALL TIE SYSTEM AND USE SILICONE IN THE SMALL EXPANSION GAP.
