Plasterboard on top of tiles????

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

I hired a tradesman to remove all tiles and old bath suite and replace with new. On the first day of the job I came home to find that instead of removing the tiles, he had used adhesive to stick plasterboard on top of it (as the walls were too bad underneath). He had also sealed the new bath in place with out fixing any of the pipes etc or removing the tiles around the bath. Has anyone else ever done this?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Kate if the trade person had priced to remove tiles and replaster then that's what. should have been done the method used is very poor. water and plasterboards don't mix well. As for the pipes they should be reasonably supported as loose pipework can cause water hammer. Dave plumber

As for the use of plasterboard in your bathroom its ok near your bath it should be green in colour or it will go mouldy. If not tell him to change them to moister resistant
