wet roof that needs new felt

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.59 PM

I hope someone can answer my question here go's. I have a shed come summerhouse with a felt roof that is leaking due to the resent amount of rain we have had over the past few days, should I cover up the roof with a waterproof cover until it dry's out or could it be re felted as it is with the wood roof still wet and would it dry out under the new felt. Also would one layer of felt be enough to keep it dry, also could you lay the new felt on top of the old felt or would it be better to strip the old felt off?. Many thanks, David

Hi David roof needs stripped back to wood if wet will dry under new felt or before new felt gets laid depending on how wet it is as long as wood is still solid and whole you should be fine and if it's just a garden shed then one layer of shed felt will suffice
