knocking-through wall between Kitchen and Dining Room
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.53 PM
I would like to knock-through the wall between the Kitchen and the Dining Room and I need to know what kind of trades man I need for the job. For example, do I need an architect ? A structural engineer ? Or just a builder ? When I post the job on my-builder which trade category shall I pick ?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi.
It would help to see your floor layout to see exactly which wall will be getting knocked down. Most likely a brick wall that is picking up one above in which case a single steel beam would have to be installed. Engineer's calculations first, finding your builder secondly.

Hi Rose, you don't say where in the UK you are, I'm in Glasgow
You will need someone like myself to inspect the wall. If it's non load bearing it can be removed. If it is load bearing it needs structural support installed This work also requires permission from council so plans and specification required with structural engineers report
