Should I box in pipes before laying vinyl flooring

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.15 PM

I'm about to lay vinyl flooring and box in pipes in the bathroom. Should I lay the floor against the wall and then construct the piping over the vinyl flooring? This would mean that I have to screw battens to the vinyl and through to the floor. Or should I construct the boxing first, attaching the battens directly to the floor and start laying the vinyl against the surface of the boxing (rather than the wall)?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes and no, this depends on how you are laying the vinyl if flat lay, It doesn't matter. If capped & coved build boxing first.

Hi I have done lots of work like this and I would lay Lino and then box in the pipes as you will not have to worry about cutting around the boxing area Hence a easy tidy finish
