Need to remove some limbs on a really old Oak tree (London)

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.15 PM

We are considering purchasing a house in Hampstead garden suburb, London which is a conservation area and in addition to the local authority it is also regulated by a Trust. My question is how much would it cost to remove a limb or two from a oak tree? It's very large, approx. 150 years old and is growing into the roof line of the house.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Would pretty much guarantee there will be a t p o on this tree ,must apply to tree officer at the council before any works carried out and explain what you intend to do. The tree officer will tell you yes or no to your intentions, price of the work will vary due to limbs being rigged and lowered or what's underneath etc.

Hello, If the tree is in a conservation area you would have to contact the local authority and arrange a meeting with the tree officer. The tree officer would then tell you exactly what you can and can not do to the tree. Until you have spoken or the tree surgeon has spoken to the tree officer it would be impossible to get an accurate quote . It is the responsibility of the person contracted to do work on trees to get permission to work on trees with a TPO or that are in a conservation area. Thanks, Jason.
