Gas pipes outdoors?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

Hello, Currently in the kitchen the pipes are visible. I asked for a quote to have them concealed into the walls, but the plumber said he can conceal the ones that carry water but not the gas ones due to regulations. Is this correct? He suggested I run the gas pipe outside the kitchen extension. Could there be issues when the winter comes, i.e. freezing the gas, etc? Thank you!

Gas is a liquid so does not freeze.

Gas pipes in walls are allowed but have to be installed according to gas regs. if the situation allows. I would always rather have the gas pipe exposed myself. No problems with gas freezing.

Your plumber can not be a gas engineer as he would have known that you can put gas pipes in walls providing that the method used is an approved method laid down by the regulations and codes of practice Personally I would avoid placing pipework in walls unless their was a purpose ventilated duct.
