Forgotten the alarm code

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.15 PM

Hi. Just bought a house that comes with an alarm fitted. The old owner doesn't know the code and said she never used it. Is there anyway of finding out the code or can I just get the control unit replaced and set up a new one? Thanks.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Tommy, It all depends on what alarm system you have - many can be reset back to the factory settings by an engineer (there are a variety of ways of doing this depending on manufacture) - however there are occasions where you may require a new panel. I often find the factory set engineer code has never been changed allowing the user code to be changed by entering engineer mode. Hope this helps. Scott

It depends on which alarm system you have and if the panel can be locked and the engineer has locked it. If the panel is locked, then the panel should be replaced, in some cases just the pcb can be changed if the panel is still available as new or reconditioned. If you identify the alarm panel you may be able to get more specific help, take a picture of the keypad, post it on an online forum, or look for names, a series of numbers, or logos as these help identify the panel. For example a Scantronic panel is usually a series of 4 numbers beginning with a 9 (9448), Texecom Veritas (has Veritas on the keypad) etc Hope you get this resolved.
