SHOULD WE SEAL A VERY OLD POROUS WALL BEFORE APPLYING DAUBS OF PLASTER & PLASTERBOARDING

ABOUT TO SEAL A VERY OLD (1894) WALL WITH PVA SUGGESTED DILTION IS 3/1 BUT IS THIS CORRECT IF WE ARE ABOUT TO DAB AND DAUB PLASTER ON WALLS TO APPLY PLASTERBOARD? THANKYOU

Personally I have never used PVA in this situation. Clear all dust debris from the wall then liberally wet the wall with water (in board sized sections). This will prevent the wall from sucking all the moisture from the adhesive too quickly and therefore causing it to crack and fail. The ammount of water depends on the material of the wall, but basically the quicker the water is absorbed the more you will need.

first clean all dust off wall then do suction test see if it need pva or sbr dont want to mix pva of sbr wrong it will cause you bonding fail it will start cracking
