Render, fascia, roof order of events
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.15 PM
Hi I'd like to double check the sequence of the detail on a flat roof. I've just had the blockwork completed on a single story rear extension. Joists are on. The flat roof with be VCL>120mm celotex>18mm Plywood>Torch on Felt. Am I right in thinking that because the side trim overhangs the fascia the fascia has to be installed before the roof is done? Also the fascia is installed over the render so before the roof goes on the rendering and the fascia must be installed?

Your right regarding the fascia going on before the roof felt can be finished as the drip edge of the felt will be lapped over the fascia. Normally the render is done afterwards, if your worried about losing the profile off the bottom of the fascia (I am assuming you have no soffit) you need to factor that into the timber which is supporting the fascia, add approx 20mm (or whatever your render thickness is) to the timber, this allowing the fascia and roof felt to be completed and you can then render afterwards - your priority should be weathering the building asap the rendering can follow.
