Push Button Toilet Cistern Constantly Leaking Into Bowl
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.52 PM
Hello ... our downstairs toilet is fitted with a Macdee AFV push button flush system and yesterday, it just started constantly filling the bowl with a steady flow of water, and no water is being kept in the cistern aside from an inch or so at the bottom. All the problems we have had with the system so far have been with the push button sticking which has been fixed with WD40, but this is a new one. I have removed the flush unit and checked the plunger/seal that comes out of the unit and that seems fine, but with the unit in or out, it seems that the water is just flowing constantly. Is this a common problem?

It's overflowing. It's doing its job so that's good. However your fill/float valve is not shutting off. Maybe a split washer inside the float valve or grit or debris in there. Worst case scenario is that you replace the complete unit at around £10-£15
