what's the guide price to make a base for a garden outbuilding 5.5m by 3.5m?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

Hello there. I'm just trying to find out a rough guide pice for the following: I'm building a 5.5x3.5m (about 2.5m tall) timber framed building at the back of my garden. It will be soundproofed so relatively heavy. I will need a base laid for the building. The usual compacted hardcore/damp proof membrane/concrete. It is a terraced house so access is only possible through the house. It is a long garden (about 45m) and the building will be right at the bottom. The location is South East London. Having read posts from groundworkers and builders in this one and other sites I got the impression that it would be a one day job for two people and around £1000. Is this correct? Any information would be very much appreciated thank you.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you got a quote of £1000 to carry out the above works and it is through your house I would accept it immediately and get a written quote specifying exactly what you want and make sure enough depth is excavated and removed.

The size and location of your job would prove to cause situations that may reflect in the price. For example moving material and equipment from the street to the point of use. If you have been given a formal, itemised quote from a reputable tradesman, then £1000 is extremely good value for money in my opinion.
