Sink makes glugging noise when bath drains and vice versa

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.14 PM

I am assuming this will be something to do with the angles of the drains from these items. Is it something we could attempt to resolve ourselves? Thank you

Hi Janet. Difficult to advise not being able to see your waste pipe set up but this should be a fairly easy problem to fix. Replace the sink trap under the basin with a similar one but with an 'Anti Siphon' device on it. Take the old one to any plumbers merchants and they will know what you need. If this doesn't solve the problem then you can fit a self sealing valve under the bath as well (as close to the bath trap as possible). It's a bit more fiddly but that should sort it. If you are DIY orientated you should be able to do this yourself. If not call a plumber - it should be a quick job. Hope this helps Mike :-)

Sorry to say I think you have a poor waste system the reason for the noise is that air needs to enter pipes when discharging water or as you know water gurgles because its not flowing freely get a good plumber to investigate the waste system

it seams to be a insufficient depth of water in the traps. Tiziano
