Insulating an internal wall that is of single brick thickness

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

Good morning, I am currently looking to insulate a kitchen wall internally. The kitchen has been extended into what would have been an outhouse and toilet outside in the past (over 30 years ago). The one outside wall was left as a single brick wall. The floor is solid concrete and has been damp proofed in the past. The plaster that was on the wall, over the last couple of years has deteriorated and tapping the walls, this sounded hollow in places. I have taken all of the plaster off, back to the brickwork. I would like to know the correct process of insulating the wall with insulation boards. As a note, the wall is approximately 2.5m x 2.3m and will have a gas hob, oven and a hood on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Sunil

hi in my opinion you need to fit treated 2x1 battens to the brickwork and then overboard the area with thermal board minimum 30mm before finishing with plaster and eggshell paint.
