Can neighbour use my fencepost
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.14 PM
I some time ago, built a fence about 10cm in side the original fence( chicken wire) which was my fence on my side. I erected a small fence in my side, today my neighbour's cut my chicken wire down and has attached a post to my existing post. Can he do this and when I built My fence, did I give up the old boundary line?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU LIKE PROVIDING IT IS ON YOUR SIDE, YOUR NEIGHBOUR HAS NO RIGHT TO CROSS INTO YOUR GARDEN OR ATTACH ANYTHING TO YOUR FENCE POST. NO ALL YOU DONE WAS BUILD A FENCE ON YOUR SIDE.
GOOD LUCK ALEX

You can not give up a boundary your fence sounds like it's inside your garden not even a boundary fence. Your neighbour has taken down the boundary fence .In this case the chicken wire fence so no he can't do that it's a situation that pops up every now and then. Why did he put the post on your post ? Was he building a fence joining your fence I font really know any other reason someone would bolt a post to a post ?. Well good luck sorting your problem but you are definitely in the right.
