Achieving a good finish on kitchen unit doors its really a job for a professional decorator. However a basic method for painting over factory painted units would be to firstly clean the surfaces to remove any dirt or grease as these would significantly reduce paint adhesion. Then the surfaces should be sanded with fine grit insuring every part is abraded. This will remove any dust picks on the surface and promote adhesion for the new paint system. Next a suitable high adhesion primer should be applied(you need to find one that works and test patches should be carried out to do this). After this the eggshell coats can be applied but a little sand in between coats should be performed to keep everything nice and smooth. To acheive a smoother finish additives can be mixed in with the primer and eggshell so that they flow out more smoothly and professional brushes should be used. Alot of practice is required for a professional finish.
